Zind-Humbrecht’s 2008 Gewurztraminer Hengst is still an ennobled sweet wine

This wine is very generous and rich and almost caramel-like in its sweet taste

but that period is down to several months from a full year the wine spent in small barrels up until 2001 or so

a richly smooth entry onto the palate and a bitter almond aftertaste

and both sites have vines that range from 40 to 50 years in age

Marked acidity and fruit reminiscent of red hard candy Spangles. A little simple and lightly sweaty but quite pretty.
